Holy Communion at St. Michael's

St. Michael’s Mission humbly began its ministry in a daycare center with their first Mass in August of 2010. Father Mark Spruill who was then pastor at Our Lady of the Valley in Fort Payne celebrated the Mass and henceforth began celebrating Mass for the Mission on an every other week basis.

Bishop Emeritus, Robert J. Baker, in January 2014, then Bishop of Birmingham, gave the faith community the name St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Mission. Then on May 17, 2015, members moved from the daycare center and met for the first time in their current location on Plaza Drive in Centre.

Members of the Mission said they prayed hard to be able to have Mass celebrated every week and they were blessed in 2019 when Father Mark along with Father Thomas Nattekadan, from St. Charles and St. Joachim parishes, began sharing pastoral duties thereby providing Mass each Sunday.

Pastoral changes within the Birmingham Diocese now has Father Rick Chenault from Our Lady of the Valley (Fort Payne), and Father Frankline Fomukong from St. Charles and St. Joachim (Jacksonville and Piedmont) continuing to provide Mass each Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.

If you are new to our Mission or just visiting, we hope you will find our church to be a place where your faith is nourished and deepened. We also hope you will choose to share your special gifts with us. Your prayers, your presence and your gifts of time and talents are most welcome!
